Farm Credit Recognizes Outstanding 4-H Youth

Farm Credit today recognized 4-H youth from seven different states for outstanding achievement and initiative to significantly improve and enhance their local communities. The winners of the Grow Community Change Challenge were announced during the National 4-H Council’s Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) in June and July and their work is now being shared nationally.

Farmer Veteran Coalition To Host National Stakeholders Conference November 14 - 15, 2014

The Farmer Veteran Coalition, in coordination with the Drake University Agricultural Law Center, will host a first-of-its-kind national gathering for organizations that serve military veterans pursuing food, farming, and agricultural careers. The Farmer Veteran National Stakeholders Conference empowers organizations to collaborate and provide support to veterans engaged in agriculture.

Debunking Commercial Bankers’ Claims, Council Seeks to Correct Hearing Record

In a letter sent July 14 to members of the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Livestock, Rural Development and Credit, The Farm Credit Council took issue with testimony provided by commercial bankers at a June 25 hearing that was highly inaccurate and deceptive. In setting the record straight, the Council addressed several of the commercial bankers’ misleading arguments, including misstatements of the Farm Credit System’s statutory mission; its record of service to young, beginning and small farmers and ranchers; Farm Credit’s GSE status; and the marketplace competition provided by Farm Credit which benefits agricultural and rural borrowers.

Farm Credit Remains Strong, Vital Credit Source For U.S. Agriculture and Rural America

The Farm Credit System remains financially strong, economically vital, and focused on fulfilling its mission of service to U.S. agriculture and rural America, said Bob Frazee, CEO of MidAtlantic Farm Credit, in testimony June 25 before a House Agriculture subcommittee.

“We continue to make credit available to all segments of agriculture, including commercial producers as well as young, beginning and small farmers and ranchers,” said Frazee, who testified at the hearing to examine rural credit conditions held by the House Agriculture Committee's Subcommittee on Livestock, Rural Development and Credit.

Farmer Veteran Coalition Launches Homegrown By Heroes National Certification Label

The Farmer Veteran Coalition announced May 14 the national launch of the Homegrown By Heroes initiative. This product labeling program will allow farmers, ranchers, fishermen, and the like from all 50 states and U.S. territories who have served or are still serving in any branch of the U.S. military the ability to use the logo on their agricultural products.
